Abstract: Cynolebias ibicuiensis sp.n., is described from the rio Ibicui-Mirim, rio Uruguai basin, Rio Grande di Sul, Brazil. It belongs to an assemblage of species possessing dorsal-fin base longer than anal-fin base,and differing from other included taxa by the color pattern of male,head shape,and number of anal-fin rays of female.The type locality and some other points of the rio Ibicui basin are presently in advanced degree of environmental modifications caused by rice culture along river floodplains. This new species is possibly extinct.
