| Abstract: | Simpsonichthys auratus, new species, is described from a temporary pool close to rio Taboca, rio Paracatú drainage, rio São Francisco basin, Estado de Minas Cerais, Brazil. It is closely related to S. trilineatus with which it shares the golden anterior portion of the body and a ventrolateral dark bloch in male. It differs by having more pelvicfin rays, the presence of transverse bars on the central portion of the body and the absence of longitudial body stripes in male. |
