| Abstract: | Part of the Simpsonichthys Carvalho species clade of South American killifishes that inhabit seasonal pools of central, N.E. and S.E. Brazil and N. Paraguay (Costa 1998, 2003). A member of the subclade, Simpsonichthys constanciae species group, that includes Simpsonichthys constanciae, Simpsonichthys bokermanni, Simpsonichthys perpendicularis and Simpsonichthys rosaceus. Part of the Nematolebias group now considered to be a subgenus of Simpsonichthys (Costa, 2003). Nematolebias subgenus: Simpsonichthys bokermanni, Simpsonichthys constanciae, Simpsonichthys izecksohni, Simpsonichthys myersi, Simpsonichthys papilliferus, Simpsonichthys perpendicularis, Simpsonichthys rosaceus, Simpsonichthys whitei. |
