    Distribution: Found in Bahia, Brazil.
    Biotope: At the collection site "Guanambi" BHS 95/12 in 1995, this species was found together with Cynolebias leptocephalus. The latter probably preys upon Simpsonichthys fulminantis.
    Size: Males 4.5 - 5.5 cm, females 3.5 cm

  • Breeding: The great problem with Simp. fulminantis is the incubation and hatching of the eggs. It often happens that a lot of belly-slider appear. Also the incubation period has varied widely according to reports.

    On the otherhand, the fry are quite straightforward to rear although sometimes they are too small to eat brineshrinps, so you may have to feed the fry with infusoria for a few days. They seem to grow fine in temperatures from 20 to 25.
