| Breeding: | This species breeds when the temperature is above 17C. The pair dives into the peat where the eggs are placed. The peat is dryed and stored in 3 months at 18-26C. The males defends small territories where other males are not tolerated. In a larger aquarium it can, as with most Simpsonichthys, live in groups and succesful cross-spawning can give a better off spring. This new species showed up in a pet store in Norway. It has never been found in the wild and can therefore not be described scientifically. |
