| Breeding: | This species breeds when the temperature is above 18C. The pair dives into the peat where the eggs are placed. The peat is dryed and stored in 2,5 - 3 months at 18-26C. The males defends small territories where other males are not tolerated. Rare species like this can be difficult to breed succesfully. A relatively low temperature seems important. Also the eggs are very hard to see in the peat. |
