Abstract: The genus Trigonectes is relatively closely related to Pterolebias, Moema and Neofundulus.
Synonyms:

  • Type Locality: Shallow lake flowing into Riberao, then into Rio Tocantins. Porto Nacional, Rio Tocantins, Goias, Brazil.
    Distribution: Porto Nacional, Goias, Brazil; Tofeh, Chaco & Pantanal, Mato Grosso, Brazil
    Biotope: Shallow lake. Swim in small shoals in th wild.
    Size: Males 14 cm, females smaller. Reaching 8 - 9 cm in the aquarium.

    Breeding: They are bottom spawning annual fish with a relatively long egg incubation period. Breeding them is not very easy.
